BallyBoy Design’s first wedding!
We are very excited to have made capes for our first wedding party.
It all started last July when the bride to be saw an article on BallyBoy Design in the Irish Times (www.irishtimes.com) and thought that we might be the solution to a problem she had been trying in vain to solve. What could she possibly wear over her beautiful dress for her winter wedding in the West of Ireland? She was looking for something that was distinctly Irish, elegant yet practical and most important of all, with the warmth to protect her from the winter chills. She also wanted something timeless and versatile which she could enjoy wearing again.
An email and a phone call or two later, she arrived at our studio complete with her wedding dress to see what might work. Having tried on the various styles and looked at our swatches of tweed and silk, she settled on a classic Burren cape for herself and the more contemporary Clifden cape that buttons on the shoulder, for her beautiful bridesmaids, her three sisters.
They decided that they would all wear the same colours, navy blue soft lambswool tweed lined with a sumptuous sapphire blue silk. I confirmed the materials would arrive in sufficient time and thankfully all went according to plan, with the capes being ready in plenty of time.
I am delighted to say that the BallyBoy Design capes were a huge success on the day, were much admired and provided the stunning bride and her bridesmaids with an elegant solution to an Irish winter wedding.
We have very kindly been given permission to share some photos of the great day. Enjoy!
